Local Area Update

Dear Resident please see below a weekly update of incidents/crimes/good outcomes in relation to the Benfieldside, Blackhill, Bridgehill and Shotley bridge area over the last week.

Local Update 1st May - 22nd May

On Friday 1st of May, a report was received about a group of 3 youths intoxicated and acting erratically on Wood Street at 2038hrs. An area search was conducted, but no trace of the youths was found. If anyone has sighted anything or has any information in regards to the incident, please contact Durham Police on 101 and quote incident no. DHM-01052026-0560. 

On Sunday 3rd May, a report was received about a resident of Dixon Street returning back from holiday to find a large rock had been put through their kitchen window from her garden. This has occurred sometime between 1900hrs on 02/05 and 1100hrs on 03/05. A crime of criminal damage has been recorded and is currently under investigation. On Sunday 3rd of May, a Ford Transit van was stolen from Cutlers Hall Road between 2230hrs the previous night and 1000hrs on the 3rd. Inside of the bike was an electric bike, camping equipment and a desk. There was also a tent box on the roof of the vehicle. A crime of theft of a motor vehicle was recorded and a full investigation completed. However due to a lack of CCTV it has been closed, and the vehicle will remain on our hotlist. On Saturday 9th May a Ford Transit has been broken into overnight with damage to the lock and the steering collum being pulled out. It is believed to have occurred sometime between 2200hrs the previous night and 0730hrs. A crime of attempted theft of a motor vehicle has been recorded and a full investigation has been conducted, however due to a lack of CCTV or witnesses it has been closed. On Saturday 9th May another Ford Transit was stolen from Queens Road between 0000hrs and 0800hrs. A crime has been recorded and currently under investigation awaiting further CCTV. On Tuesday 12th May a vehicle has been damaged on Snows Green Road with the rear window being smashed sometime between 2030hrs the previous night and 0630hrs. A crime of criminal damage was recorded and investigated but due to CCTV it has been closed. There have been multiple calls on both the 14th and 15th of May in relation to youths accessing a derelict building on Durham Road. Upon police attendance no youths have been located on both locations. On Friday 15th  another attempted theft of a Ford Transit has occurred on Pemberton road between 0100hrs and 0600hrs. Unfortunately there is no CCTV or witnesses and the crime has been closed.
