Cannabis Farms

Organised crime is not welcome in this town

Around 130 cannabis plants were recovered from an address on Salisbury Place in Bishop Auckland on July 20th 2022.

At around 8.40am, officers from Bishop Auckland carried out a warrant at the address and found a large grow inside.

A 24-year-old man was also located in the address and arrested on suspicion of abstracting electricity and production of cannabis - he remains in custody.

Enquires are currently being carried out and crime scene investigators are working at the address.

Inspector Peter Lonsdale, from Bishop Auckland neighbourhood team said: “Often the proceeds made from selling class B drugs is used as revenue to then source the supply of class A.

“Disrupting those that choose to sell drugs in turn disrupts the chain of organised crime.

Whilst in the property, officers also discovered that the electric meter was bypassed meaning the meter was not recording how much electricity it was using.

He continued: “The majority of residents in this town work hard for their money and it is unfair that criminals think they can use loopholes to benefit themselves.

“Be rest assured, we will do everything we can to tackle those responsible.”
