The Neighbourhood, Response and Crime teams working out of Newton Aycliffe have been busy responding to a variety of incidents across the area over the past week, including Concerns for Safety, Missing Persons, Domestic Incidents and Harassment. Below is a snapshot of what we have been up to; ๐ฎโโ๏ธ On Monday Officerโs from the Newton Aycliffe Neighbourhood Team worked alongside colleagues in the Public Protection Unit on a county-wide operation. ๐งโ๐ซ On Tuesday the Neighbourhood Team completed our carousel sessions at Aycliffe Village โ meaning that over the past few months we have attended EVERY primary school in the Newton Aycliffe area. These sessions included talks on Bullying, Internet Safety, Anti-Social Behaviour and Crime & Consequences - we feel these have been really impactive and have enjoyed doing this. ๐ช Also on Tuesday, we received a report of a break-in at a premises in the Thames Centre in the town, where some charity money was taken. Enquiries are currently ongoing in relation to this. ๐ฃ On Wednesday members of the team participated in training to upskill them on Reducing Parental Conflict and what we can do to understand this and help those facing issues in our community. ๐ On Thursday the Road Policing Unit arrested a female on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in Tesco car park. ๐ On Friday Officers from the Road Policing Unit arrested a male in the Aycliffe area on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to custody, charged and will appear at Court in due course. ๐ค Also on Friday, PCSOโs attended the Aycliffe Village Residentโs Association monthly meeting on Friday, engaging with the locals and listening to issues they are experiencing. PCSOโs and those in attendance created an honest bond with each other and weโre looking forward to working with each other going forwards. ๐ต๏ธ On Saturday we received a couple of reports of shoplifting in the town centre. Enquiries are ongoing in order to identify the suspects responsible for this. ๐ Also on Saturday PC Booth issued two local youths with an ACE Award for helping a vulnerable person whose mobility scooter had broken down. Well done to Karis & Sophie! ๐ฃ Officers have been out and about throughout the weekend, focusing on Anti-Social Behaviour hotspot areas within Newton Aycliffe. We have been working very closely with partner agencies to escalate a number of youths found to be causing issues through our Anti-Social Behaviour escalation process to reduce issues in our town. ๐ฑ๐ป Lastly, if you havenโt already and have a spare minute, please sign up to Keep in the Know where you can receive regular alerts from the team here on whatโs happening around the town, such as crime updates and road closures. Itโs completely free and you can sign up by visiting www.keepintheknow.co.uk/content/pages/sign-up. ๐ Thanks very much for your continued support, have a great week.
